I bought one of these used in ‘89 and didn’t know how to really use it. At one point I accidently lost one of its two levels of preset sounds. At least I think I did- could’ve just needed batteries. I normally used the wall wart. Anyway, I sold it after my 5 year enlistment in the Marines, and now wish I hadn’t. I liked its sound, and construction(solid), and am now on the lookout for one again.

Yes, the CS are beasts and the CZ-1 can sound like hell. Check my site and dowsnload my „Monster’s Sound collection” (there 5, all syx) – a lot of them use the hidden waveforms of the CZs; and these sounds make the Casio unbelieveable: creepy, non FM, non PD. Pure digital something. And don’t forget to check Selaed’s deep Synthesis site; he made an editor (SoundDiver only) to select the hidden waves directly; a completely new universe for CZ-users! btw: The site is in english too!

Tweek: I believe I used a BPM of around 80.. I’m at work right now so I have to guess that off the top of my head. I created double time sounds for the snares and hihats by using the individual delay settings in the drum editors combined with the volume gating on the sequencer. Good guess, glad to see someone that knows synths playing with the DS-10, it’s an amazing piece of portable software

Hello,

I just stumbled upon this site and love it! I had a question about the vid of the DS 10 Synth above. What was the bpm for the tune? I love the snare rolls and I just got my first DS lite, and the DS 10 Sythn today, so I’m a bit of a nub=D

Did you use the delay, and or the gate feature to create the rolls?
